Retrospective Behind the Scenes

Andy Kawa Photography Videographer: Luke Parmeter

Equipment Used: Canon XH-A1s, Canon 60D, Cobracrane Dolly with 6 ft track, tripod

The Scoop: We love going out to Justin Hoyer's compound. For this particular shoot, we had a couple different story-lines going on. Nuclear Cowboy Derek Guetter was getting back into riding condition after a 4 month hiatus following a gnarly ankle injury. Meanwhile, Justin Hoyer and Cody Borchers were prepping for Winter X Games, which was about 2 months out at the time.

We had plenty of time to film, pretty much all afternoon, so we were able to set up different shots without stressing over time. Freestyle shows and demos usually go pretty quickly so you have to act fast, but it was a chill practice session and it was stress free.

I shot mainly on the Canon XH-A1s but I busted out the new Canon 60D for a few fisheye shots. We had the dolly set up as well, and we got some sick shots of Derek's Can Am in the garage.

Favorite Shot: The clip at 8 seconds in is one of my all time favorite shots, ever. It was filmed with a Canon 60D with a 10mm fisheye on a 6' dolly track. I live for shots like this!

"It's baby steps getting back into it. I know I got it. Worse comes to worst I'll just tug it to dirt and I know it will come back around"
